I.Exclusive Truth Claims

As we begin, here are just a few example quotes (there are many others) of important, exclusive truth claims within the Qur’an, Tanakh, and Bible:

The Qur’an (Muslim Holy Book):

· The Qur'an 2:4-5 “And who believe in (the Qur’an and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad) and in that which was sent down before you [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell). 5. They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.”

· The Qur'an 2:41 “And believe in what I have sent down (this Qur'an), confirming that which is with you, [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], and be not the first to disbelieve therein”

· The Qur'an 2:42 “And mix not truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth [i.e. is Allah's Messenger and his qualities are written in your Scriptures, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] while you know (the truth)”

· The Qur'an 3:54-55 “His Holy Books, e.g. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel), the Qur'an]”

· The Qur'an 29:46 “And argue not with the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), unless it be in (a way) that is better (with good words and in good manner, inviting them to Islamic Monotheism with His Verses), except with such of them as do wrong; and say (to them): ‘We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you; our (God) and your (God) is One (i.e. Allah), and to Him we have submitted (as Muslims).’”

· The Qur'an 29:47 “And thus We have sent down the Book (i.e. this Qur'an) to you (O Muhammad), and those whom We gave the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) aforetime]”

· The Qur'an 2:23 “And if you (Arab pagans, Jews, and Christians) are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down (i.e. the Qur'an) to Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a Surah (chapter) of the like thereof and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.”

· The Qur'an 10:37 “And this Qur'an is not such as could ever be produced by other than Allah (Lord of the heavens and the earth), but it is a confirmation of (the revelation) which was before it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah), and the Injeel (Gospel)], and a full explanation of the Book (i.e. laws, decreed for mankind) - wherein there is no doubt - from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn, and all that exists). "

· The Qur'an 3:85 “And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the Hereafter, he will be one of the losers."

The Tanakh (Hebrew Bible):

· Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.”

· Deuteronomy 4:35 “To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.”

· Deuteronomy 18:20 “But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.”

Proverbs 30:5–6 “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. [6] Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar.”
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”

· Isaiah 9:6–7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore.”

The Bible (Christian):

· Luke 22:37 “For I [Jesus] tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”

· Luke 24:27 “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he [Jesus] interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.”

· John 5:39-40 Jesus says “the Scriptures…bear witness about me”

· John 20:31 “these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

· 2 Timothy 3:10-17 “the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

· 2 John 9 “Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”

· John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

· Acts 4:11–12 “This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
