39. The Connection between the Torah (Taurat), Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), Gospels (Injeel), & Christian Bible
The Tanakh Fulfilled in the Messiah: The Coming of Jesus (‘Îsâ)
As we look across the Old Testament we see the story, pointing forward from Creation, of the Creator coming into the flesh. He who is from the beginning was coming to make God visible, the image of God, visible to mankind. The problem of sin spread, but God was coming to provide a way, the only way of life, through Christ.
As we look at the Old Testament, we see kings like David, prophets like Samuel, Elijah, and Elisha, and priests. All of them are pointing forward through all of the prophecies to someone greater who is coming. The prophets, priests, and kings were pointing forward to the King of all Kings, the great High Priest, the Prophet of all prophets. God was coming to provide a sacrifice through His only Son. The Word of God was coming, not in stone tablets, but in flesh to show us the way.
Did you know that there are over 300 prophecies across the Old Testament that describe the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus? All of those 300+ prophecies, some of them made hundreds and thousands of years ahead of time, were all designed to show, prove, and evidence that God had not abandoned his people. His people had abandoned Him. We had turned our back on God, but God was sent His son through a humanly-impossible birth to come and but be the sacrifice we need. Hear the prophecies and believe that Jesus is the fulfillment. God wants us to know that Jesus really is who He says He is, the Son of God in flesh. Jesus is the Messiah.

Readings from The Qur’an:
· The Qur’an 2:87 “And indeed, We gave Musa (Moses) the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers. And We gave ‘Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), clear signs and supported him with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. Is it that whenever there came to you a Messenger with what you yourselves desired not, you grew arrogant? Some you disbelieved and some you killed.”
· The Qur’an 2:253) “to ‘Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Ruh- ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)].”
· What are some of the miracles from the Bible that you find most significant from Jesus’ life? (https://www.trustworthyword.com/miracles)
· What are some of the prophecies about Jesus’ coming that amaze you the most? (https://www.trustworthyword.com/jesus-fulfill-ot)
· The Qur'an 2:259 “Or like the one who passed by a town and it had tumbled over its roofs. He said: "Oh! How will Allah ever bring it to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long did you remain (dead)?" He (the man) said: "(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or part of a day". He said: "Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years, look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh". When this was clearly shown to him, he said, "I know (now) that Allah is Able to do all things.”
· Why is this description of (town tumbled over, death & resurrection after) given that is not in the Bible? Why is it paired with the second to last sentence (“Look at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh”) that seems to reference Ezekiel 37:1-14?
· Ezekiel 37:7–8 “So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. [8] And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them.”
· Ezekiel 37 is one of the most famous prophecies of the book of Ezekiel, foreshadowing the restoration of the people of Israel from exile to their homeland as well as a foreshadow of spiritual life coming into dead souls through the life-giving Holy Spirit of God through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross?
· The Qur'an 4:163. “Verily, We have sent the revelation to you (0 Muhammad) as We sent the revelation to Nuh (Noah) and the Prophets after him; We (also) sent the revelation to Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma`il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and Al-Asbat [the offspring of the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], 'Isa (Jesus), Ayyub (Job), Yunus (Jonah), Haran (Aaron), and Sulaiman (Solomon); and to Dawud (David) We gave the Zabur (Psalms).”
· The Qur'an 5:17 “Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allah is the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary) Say (Muhammad) "Who then has the least power against Allah, if He were to destroy the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), his mother, and all those who are on the earth together?" And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. He creates what He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.”
· The Qur'an 9:30 “and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of those who disbelieved aforetime. Allah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!”
· According to the prophecies of the Scriptures (Psalms, Torah, Tanakh), how could Jesus not be the fulfilment as the Messiah/Christ?
· How else could the Qur’an explain the fulfilment of 300+ prophecies about the Messiah from the Tanakh?
· “Evidence for Jesus and the Bible” www.trustworthyword.com/evidence-for-jesus
· The Qur'an 6:83-86 “And that was Our Proof which We gave Ibrahim (Abraham) against his people. We raise whom We will in degrees. Certainly your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing. 84. And We bestowed upon him Ishaq (Isaac) and Ya'qub (Jacob), each of them We guided, and before him, We guided Nub (Noah), and among his progeny Dawud (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayyub (Job), Yusuf (Joseph), Musa (Moses), and Harun (Aaron). Thus do We reward Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers - see the footnote of V .9:120). 85. And Zakariya (Zachariya), and Yahya (John) and 'Isa (Jesus) and Iliyas (Elias), each one of them was of the righteous. 86. And Isma'il (Ishmael) and Al-Yasa' (Elisha), and Yunus (Jonah) and Lut (Lot), and each one of them We preferred above the 'Alamin [mankind and jinn (of their times)].
· Since the Qur’an says revelation and guidance came to 'Isa (Jesus), and through the Torat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospels, Bible), shouldn’t Muslims know the full story of 'Isa (Jesus), given in the Tanakh and Bible?

[3] And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, [33] and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” [34] And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” [35] And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”

For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—[33] who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, [34] quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. [35] Women received back their dead by resurrection. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. [36] Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. [37] They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated—[38] of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. [39] And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, [40] since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.”
· Deuteronomy 18:15, 18 “The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen …I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers.
